Hi my name is Beverly Smyth. I started quilting in the early 70's. I have loved sewing ever since I can remember. I have sewn all types of things from bears, to dolls, to quilts. I use to have booths at craft fairs for many years, but wasn't until 20 years ago I learned that I love to teach. I have been teaching quilting for 20 years now and still love it as much as when I first started. I have never sold a quilt and don't believe you can put a price on such a precious item. All my quilts are made with love, sometimes frustration, but always with others in mind. I have made and given away many quilts.
I believe the art of quilting is more than just a needle and thread. I believe it is about fellowship, and a time to reflect. Quilts have been around for many years and come from many different places. Native American Indians used to quilt, wives of Civil War Soldiers used to quilt, and many families used to quilt. I believe quilting is an American tradition I am proud to hand down to all those who want to learn. Sure you can go out and buy a quilt now adays for $59 but it won't have the same stories behind it. Whether I am making a quilt for a family member, a friend, or even a stranger they all have one thing in common. They are all made with love.
I am very blessed to share with all of you my Cabin. I have owned and operated Bev's Quilting Cabin for 5 years. I want to thank all of my students, customers, friends, and family because without them this wouldn't be possible.
